FAQ Headshots

FAQ Headshots

The world is visual. Always has been, but now it’s at the speed of light. You are the face of your business, whether you work for yourself or someone else. You need a headshot. For your website, your LinkedIn profile, your business card, even for your dating profile. I offer a variety of headshot packages from micro sessions for quick updates to full sessions that give you a few different looks for use across your brand. I offer options for people that are comfortable in front of the camera and those that may need a bit more time to warm up.

What what info do you need from me?

In order to make you look your best, I need to know a bit about you. For all sessions except the micros & minis, we schedule a phone call to go over your needs and how I can help you. Some of the questions I will ask are: What do you do? What do you want your clients to see when they see your image? How do you want to come across to them? Confident? Accessible? Open? Trustworthy?

How do I prepare for my session?

Please make sure you take care of any needed personal grooming prior to our session. This includes but not limited to haircuts, hair coloring, manicures, makeup, and shaving. The retouching doesn’t include removing grey roots, fixing chipped nail polish, removing a 5 o’clock shadow, or adding makeup. Tanning & sunburns: If you have tan lines or if you are sunburnt, you should schedule your session after they have faded. If you are planning to spray tan, please come to me before your session.

What do I wear?

Your clothes should compliment you and not compete with you. Something that is both appropriate to your line of work and comfortable. What do you normally wear when you meet your clients? Are you in a formal line of work? Are you a creative? You and I can discuss this in our phone call – but I include a quick list below.

  • It must be comfortable. Your headshot session is not the day to wear a new outfit for the first time.

  • Please try everything on prior to your session to confirm it fits properly.

  • It must be neat and unwrinkled.

  • If you are rebranding/changing careers and you would like to meet with a great stylist, I can recommend Kerry at The First Look.

Colors and Contrast

  • You are the star of your photos, not your clothes. They should compliment and not compete with you.

  • Keeping the above in mind, please stay away from bold and loud patterns if possible. Please no logos or graphics.

  • Colors: Just about any will work with a few caveats: Red, while it is my fav color, it can be a focal point. Use it carefully. Red and green can have holiday connotations.

  • Makeup – if you normally wear makeup, wear makeup. Bring it with you. If you don’t normally wear makeup, you may want to wear a just a bit. Let’s chat.

What is included in the retouching?

My philosophy is that I want you to look your best. The best current you. With that in mind, I will do what a good makeup artist can do. I will smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, tame rosacea, whiten teeth, and sparkle eyes. I can remove pimples and with prior discussion, scars. If you have particular concerns, it would be best that we discuss them prior to booking the session. What I won’t do is make you look 20 years younger or 20 pounds lighter. It will not include removing large wrinkles or thinning of body parts. There are ways to make you look your best without using photoshop. If you’ve gotten to here and believe we are not a good fit, I’m happy to give you a recommendation to other photographers that do this type of work.

Anything else I need to know?

Yes! Locations: can be indoors/outdoors/studio. Travel fees may apply. Same day on site delivery: $150 and up. Extra retouched Images: $50 each. Turnaround time is on average 2-3 business days – but please inquire at the time of booking.

Yes. No hair ties on wrists, no gum, and no pushing your tongue up against your teeth. Be careful with patterns.
